  • My Healing Journey

  • Touch: A traumatising barrier or
    a powerful healer.

    My journey began with my beautiful family. I'm the first generation Australian, born second into a Turkish home filled with culture, food, music, love and connection.

    A combination of:

    A sensitive, open-hearted and diversely talented Father;

    A powerful, nurturing and determined Mother;

    And an alternative, heart-felt, strong-willed sister.

    This is the family soup ingredients that have created the recipe of Yeliz.

    Over my childhood I was happy and content on my own. Often playing with plants, animals, musical instruments and the moment; my imagination was my best friend. I didn't feel comfortable with touch and closeness to others, and as a result I had barriers towards connection.

    As I grew older, I took an interest in supporting people from interesting and challenging walks of life. I joined a community called the Catholic Worker, began professionally supporting people with disabilities and studied Social Work at university. It was at this stage of my life that I realised how truly multi-dimensional the task of supporting people is. I also discovered how important communicating my boundaries is for forming sustainable and healthy relationships.

    At age 18, I experienced some challenging lessons around boundary setting and walked away with injuries to my sacrum, coccyx and trusting connections with others. Not long after my injuries, I received my first Zenthai Shiatsu therapy session and experienced the necessity, potency and barrier-breaking therapy of touch.

    My interest for this style of bodywork inspired me to study with Gwyn Williams, founder of Zenthai Shiatsu Therapy. I was a fully-qualified therapist by 2017 and have travelled the world teaching alongside holistic therapist, Ayurvedic practitioner, educator and profound body-worker: Kimmana Nichols.

    Resistance to touch could create and perpetuate trauma and blockage. Therapeutic touch can be your powerful healer.

    I'm here to bring normality, awareness and therapy through bodywork, so your body and mind can be freed of any holding patterns, resistance and blockages.
